Job Description:
Position Title: Budtender
Department: Retail
Reports to: Store Manager

Job Summary:
The High Note’s budtender will be a friendly canna-whiz who will help our customers understand, select and purchase our full offering of cannabis products, including flower, concentrates, edibles and topicals. The ideal budtender will not only be extremely knowledgeable regarding the efficacy, effects, aroma, taste and aesthetic of The High Note’s in store products, but will also be a friendly, engaging, and compassionate individual.

Reporting to the Retail Store Manager, the budtender will be an upbeat, energetic presence who appreciates the subtleties and nuances of superior customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing great customer service to each and every person who walks through our door
  • Building meaningful rapport with all of our customers
  • Becoming educated on every brand we carry including expected effects, benefits, selling points, and more
  • Answering any questions our customers have in a friendly, professional and patient manner
  • Getting to know the customer and their specific needs in order to help them select the best possible products for their unique needs
  • Ringing up customer orders and accepting payment accurately every time
  • Educating first-time cannabis consumers to the category and the products in a caring and compassionate manner with strong attention to their tolerance and expectations
  • Helping maintain cleanliness of the store
  • Stocking and restocking products as needed
  • Following compliance guidelines and regulations
  • Answering phone calls as needed and maintaining proper phone etiquette at all times
  • Following all retail procedures including but not limited to, check in, check out, sales, and more
  • Communicating clearly with the store managers and other members of the High Note team
  • Being a positive representation of The High Note brand at all times
  • Arriving on time, in uniform, and meeting grooming standards every shift

Position Type/Expected Hours:
This is a full-time position.

Assistant Manager / Retail

Job Description:
Position Title: Assistant Manager
Department: Retail
Reports to: Store Manager
Status: Non- Exempt

Job Summary:
The Assistant Manager is responsible for performing all daily operations, achieving personal sales goals, as well as the specific task of maintaining visual standards. They may also assist with store operational responsibilities and duties in the absence of the Store Manager when required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
(Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned at any time)

  • Sales, Service, and Merchandising Requirements (85%)
  • Meet or exceed the expectations based on the Retail Key Performance Indicator Ratings
  • Supervise and motivate Sales Associates to drive sales
  • Handle any and all customer service issues as needed with Store Manager guidance/approval
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and lead by example when assisting clients
  • Partner with the Store Manager with visual merchandising standards
  • Maintain appearance standards of the sales floor by keeping it stocked, organized and merchandised
  • Assist Store Manager in providing the Buying Department product feedback and requests
  • Perform point of sale transactions including opening, closing, and manager functions

Operational Requirements (10%)

  • Partner with Store Manager with communication to the Retail Operations Department
  • Maintain all receipt, deposit and credit card documentation
  • Maintain organization and neatness of cash wrap and stockroom
  • Coordinate the daily cleaning of the entire store
  • Respond to inter-company requests such as transfers and returns
  • Utilize loss prevention procedures in order to minimize shrink

HR/Personnel Requirements (5%)

  • Partner with Store Manager to ensure that each associate is fully trained in her/his position
  • Uphold the Company dress code for all associates
  • Partner with the Retail Operations or the Human Resources Departments to handle any and all personnel issues when the Store Manager is unavailable
  • Assist Store Manager with associate evaluations (quarterly one-on-ones, 90-day reviews, common reviews) as required.

Qualifications and Other Requirements:

  • 1 to 2 years of previous retail supervisor experience
  • High School graduate or equivalent; college degree preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service, sales and clienteling skills
  • Able to lead in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
  • knowledge of PC applications
  • Some experience with retail POS/inventory control systems
  • Maintain positive team morale
  • Maintain composure and professionalism under pressure while meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 32-40 hours per week full-time, including early mornings, evenings/nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as well as overtime as needed by management
  • May be required to attend outside events, seminars, etc. as needed

Retail Store Manager

Retail Store Manager

Location: Los Angeles, CA

About The High Note

The High Note is a vertically integrated seed-to-sale cannabis enterprise which operates licensed dispensaries in the Los Angeles area.  With a range of recreational and medicinal cannabis products under development, the company will launch its first brand in 2019.  Concurrently The High Note is constructing a micro cultivation and manufacturing space in East Los Angeles and plans to break ground on its commercial cultivation center in California City this year. 

About the Position

Reporting to the Director of Retail Operations, the Retail Store Manager is the critical link between the store and the Retail Operations Department, responsible for every aspect of store operations, achieving sales plans, conducting hiring and training of all associates, managing and motivating their team, and ensuring customer service standards are achieved.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Sales, Service, and Merchandising Requirements
    • Meet or exceed the expectations based on the Retail Performance Indicator Ratings
      • Coordinate sales incentive programs, SPIFF’s, and daily/monthly/weekly goal achievement
    • Train and supervise Assistant Managers, Sales Leads and Sales Associates when on the selling floor
    • Supervise and motivate all associates to drive sales
    • Address any and all customer service issues as needed
      • Deliver exceptional customer service and lead by example when assisting clients
    • Maintain all visual merchandising standards using the Assistant Manager if needed
    • Maintain appearance standards of the sales floor by keeping it stocked, organized and merchandised
    • Partner with Buying Department in regards to product feedback and requests
    • Perform point of sale transactions
  • Operational Requirements
    • Manage controllable expenses for store
    • Effectively communicate personnel, inventory, maintenance or any other issue(s) to the Retail Operations Department
    • Create monthly associate schedules, sales goals and employee sales goals
    • Approve and submit associate timecards in payroll system
    • Prepare and submit all store/personal business expense documentation 
    • Maintain all receipt, deposit and credit card documentation
    • Conduct store meetings with associates to communicate all appropriate information from the Retail Operations Department
    • Oversee the upkeep of all maintenance issues at the store including lighting, electrical, plumbing, store fixtures, building, and hardware
    • Maintain organization and neatness of cash wrap and stockroom
    • Coordinate the daily cleaning of the entire store
    • Order appropriate levels of store, office and cleaning supplies
    • Respond to inter-company requests such as transfers and returns
    • Utilize loss prevention procedures in order to minimize shrink
    • Conduct physical inventory and report final counts
    • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly reports as needed
  • HR/Personnel Requirements
    • Conduct and oversee hiring and training of all new associates as well as re-training existing associates when needed
      • Ensure that each associate is up to date with necessary employment forms
      • Ensure that each associate is fully trained
      • Maintain strict organization of all personnel files
    • Uphold the Company dress code for all associates
    • Partner with the Retail Operations and Human Resources Departments on any and all personnel issues including payroll and progressive discipline
    • Administer associate evaluations as required

About the Ideal Candidate

Minimum Experience Required:

  • 2 to 4 years of previous retail management experience, preferably in a soft goods apparel environment
  • High School graduate or equivalent; college degree preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service, sales skills and clienteling
  • Able to lead in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
  • Proficient knowledge in PC applications
  • Experience with retail POS/inventory control systems
  • Maintain positive team morale
  • Maintain composure and professionalism under pressure while meeting multiple and sometimes competing deadlines
  • Must own vehicle for travel and/or delivery purposes as needed
  • May be required to attend outside events, seminars, etc. as needed
